Sunday Stash # 1

I went to my first TMQG group sew the other night at Thimble Pleasures, good times, good times...

  I needed to pick out sashing and binding fabrics for these:

Made from Moda 1974 by Urban Chiks 

Not the greatest picture but the only one I have of these together.

Anyway, I ended up purchashing some Moda Cross Weave, in a teal-ish color for the sashing. (Thank you ladies for your help!)

Which led to a subsequent purchase at the Fat Quarter Shop sale:

Mama's been a bad bad girl, this is last year's Mother's Day gift.  I still don't know what to do with these.

This year I went with handmade gifts!  The top one is for my MIL, and the bottom one for my Mom, I hope they arrived in the mail yesterday!

Both are table runners made from Nature's Notebook charm packs by April Cornell for Moda.

A cozy place for drinks

I love whipping up these fast small projects to practice free-motion quilting on.  

We have an ottoman downstairs instead of a coffee table, so I created this little quilt to act as a coaster for our drink tray.  

I used squares from a charm pack for both sides, and a scrap I got from someone else for the binding.

Here she is before...

 This machine is a Singer 15-91 manufactured November, 20 1953 in Elizabeth NJ.

The first vintage machine I ever purchased, in all it's dusty grimy glory.  That's right, I said first.  I have 3 others and I am going to pick up another 15-91 tomorrow, but mainly so I have the cabinet to sit this one in.  Well... unless the one we look at tomorrow is in better shape than this one, (fingers crossed), then I will have to decide which one to use!  This machine is supposed to be nice for free motion quilting so I am excited to see how it compares to sewing on my newer, electronic Kenmore.  I also have a couple more vintage singer models on my wish list I hope to run across someday...

DH is working on the rewiring and cleaning up now, I need to order polish and clean up the outside and then one day... hopefully... we will have more pictures.

Next in line for before pictures - my Singer 201-2, these ladies will eventually need names too...

 

I will have to show you Eleanor sometime, she is not a Singer, but born in Japan and quite beautiful!

Spring update!

OK, the color is washed out on this one, I should really read the manual that came with my camera one of these days...

Peaches, YES! I was surprised, I just planted these a few weeks ago, I really hope they stay around.

Modify Tradition Swap

Even though I have too many projects going on and my brain is overflowing I have decided to participate in the Modify Tradition Mini Quilt Swap.  This will be my first swap, hey I had to try it one of these days right?  I am actually very excited about who I am going to be making my quilt for.  Should allow for some excessive creativity and I like that :)

Now for whoever has my name here is some extra info if you need it.  I really have an appreciation for all types of quilts.  The only things I am not really into are a lot of purple or a lot of pastel.  I like happy colors.  My favorite color is teal, but I also love green.  Some examples of different fabrics I like are Kaffe Fasset, Tula Pink, Anna Maria Horner, Heather Bailey, Heather Ross, Japanese and Retro prints but really, surprise me!  I also love solids mixed with prints, but I also love it when many busy prints work together.

Some other things about me, I like gardening, I watch Days of Our Lives, Fringe, glee, The Office, Grey's Anatomy, True Blood, Dexter, OK way too many TV shows...
